Where do my membership dues go?
The Smith College Club of the Peninsula Bay Area is one of the most active clubs in the country. We are lifted up as a hallmark to other clubs and we offer guidance to clubs that are just beginning to get traction in their geographies. Your membership and ongoing support help us to continue this work.
Events
Every summer we host an afternoon tea and invite every local student who is home for the summer, and every newly matriculating student, to gather with local alums and get excited about the upcoming school year. Other annual events include a Galentine’s Day Coffee Meet-up in February, Spring Student Care Packages in April, Mountain Day Hiking in October, Fall Student Care Packages in November, and the beloved Holiday Cookie Exchange in December. Additionally we host a faculty speaker as often as possible, usually every 2 years.
Mailings, Digital Communications, and Online Payments
Dues pay for hosting this website on Squarespace, communicating to our community via Constant Contact, board communications via Zoom, and Stripe online payment options on the Club’s website.
Student Exam Care Packages
As a way of connecting with our current Peninsula students at Smith, the Club sends care packages to these students twice a year during end of term exams.
Peninsula Scholarship Fund
Club and alumnae donations to the Smith College Club of the Peninsula Endowment Fund provide funds to help local young women attend Smith. This restricted endowed fund was established through the generosity of the Smith College Club of the Peninsula (CA) in 1960 and is managed through the stewardship of Smith College. Annual income from this fund is used to provide financial assistance for students, consistent with the financial aid policies of the college, with a preference for students from the area served by the Smith College Club of the Peninsula (CA), as mutually defined by the club and college.
